Monday, 30 July 2001 -- Then Again, Maybe Not

It might be a few more days before I have anything meaningful up here after all. I currently have no Internet access and it'll be a couple more days before I'm able to get online again. Paying 20 cents a minute at the local Kinko's is no fun.

Friday, 27 July 2001 -- Back In The Saddle

If you haven't heard yet, on the day of my last update--July 9th--I was fired from my old job.

I'm not going to cry bitch and moan about it, as much as I might be tempted to. In the long run, this is probably for the best. The place was starting to become a less-than-entirely-pleasant place to work. So if you know of anyone hiring tech workers, please drop me a line.

Anyway, I think I've spent enough time moping about this and I need to get back to my routine of updating this site. I'll be gone this weekend, so there won't be another update until Sunday or Monday. I promise that I'll have something else up by then.

Monday, 9 July 2001 -- World Events Rant

Well, it's finally happened. Former Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic is finally being brought to trial for war crimes.

It's about fucking time.

This guy was indicted in 1999. Didn't the U.S. have peacekeeping forces in Yugoslavia at the time? I remember watching the news 2 years ago and yelling at the TV. "Pick him up!" How hard is it to arrest someone? Yes, I know. Not our country. Soverign foreign land and all.

You know what? I don't care.

If there is someone indicted for war crimes anywhere in the world, I say that we go and drag their genocidal ass to The Hague. There are some things that must not be allowed to happen. No matter what. Letting an indicted war criminal walk around unmolested is one of them.

Yes, I've heard the arguments that the United States shouldn't go around being the world's policeman. Right. Tell that to Iraq. We didn't seem to mind being the policeman then. Yes, I know. Different situation. Our economic interests were at stake, or so I've been told.

This is different. We like to brag about the fact that we're the most powerful country in the world. Well, with great power comes great responsibility. Don't believe me? Ask Spider-Man. I mean, c'mon. It's a lesson I learned by reading comic books at the age of 12. Our government should know it by now.

We're one of the only countries in the world that can afford to send in an invasion force to arrest an indicted war criminal. Not doing so is denying our responsibility as a world power. Besides, we didn't have any problem invading Panama in order to arrest Manuel Noriega, now did we?

No one, and I mean no one, should be above the law. Not even a head of state. Unfortunately, it appears that Pinochet may not have to stand trial for atrocities committed while he was ruling Chile.

One final note. The People's Republic of China disapproves of Milosevic being tried in The Hague. Which, I think only helps prove that it's the right thing to do.

Friday, 6 July 2001 -- Many Different Things

Sorry that it's been almost a week since I updated this site. It's been a long week. More on that another time.

At last count, I owed you--my millions of fans--two pieces of writing. A short story and a current events rant. Well, until those things get written (hopefully this weekend--fingers crossed), I will try to appease you with more links to other stuff.

As I'm sure most of you have figured out, I will post anything that embarasses MicroSoft. Here's more on Hotmail closing accounts without cause. Here's an article on MSN Messenger being very broken. Finally, here's another problem with Win2K.

I'm also going to plug my new friend Lizzie's homepage. I especially recommend the stories section of her site. The woman can write! =)

Lastly, here's a website about a very unscrupulous ISP. This one comes from my buddy Jami, who goes on record as my first unsolicited link contributor!
